Ageing mortar on stone terraces

The stone-built properties around Wetherby's town centre, many dating back to the town's coaching era, rely on lime or sand-cement mortar bedding for ridge tiles and stonework pointing that simply wears out over decades of Yorkshire weather.

Once that mortar starts to crack or fall away, water finds its way in at the ridge, the chimney, or the stonework joints themselves, and on a conservation area property the repair needs to be done in a way that respects the appearance of the original building.
